The Cross Scythes Hotel is part of an elegant village pub six miles from central Sheffield and nine miles from the lavish stately home and gardens of Chatsworth House. Low-key rooms offer free WiFi, flatscreen TVs and tea and coffee-making facilities. Some have balconies. The classic pub features a beer garden, and serves gourmet British and international dishes. Parking is free and breakfast is available to guests for a surcharge. While the rooms are comfortable and cosy, a highlight of any stay at the bucolic hotel has to be dinner. Operated by restaurateur Stuart Hitchman, The Cross Scythes’ focus has been on simple food cooked to a high standard, complemented by an expertly selected wine list and well kept beer cellar. The Cross Scythes is easily accessible from Sheffield or Derbyshire, situated on the A621, and is ideally situated for a city break or a country getaway.

Venturing out finally after lockdown to our local, for what was intended to be a pint and nibbles. Tremendous food with a nice atmosphere to boot. Well done to Scott Ben and the team, great to see the flair and enthusiasm to please has not waived.
Nice food but slow service even when not very busy.
