The Dumpling Tree is an exciting new restaurant in Cambridge serving homemade dumplings and other Chinese delicacies from the Yunnan area of China. Beautiful Yunnan, one of China’s southwestern provinces, is filled with ethnic and geographic diversity. With an average altitude of over 6,500 feet, Yunnan enjoys the reputation of being the kingdom of flower and fauna. 26 of China’s 56 ethnic nationalities live there and it is the inspiration behind The Dumpling Tree restaurant. Its dishes are selected to reflect this way of living in harmony with nature. The speciality, naturally, is the Jiaozi dumplings, made of a paste wrapper with seasoned meat or veg filling. They are usually in the shape of a crescent moon and are particularly tasty because the process of boiling or pan frying means the steam generated inside the wrappers does not escape, keeping the flavour inside and the fillings tender. Delicious.
