The Royal Thai Restaurant is the longest-running Thai restaurant in Aberdeen. Aphisak Wong and his wife Sui opened the restaurant back in 1992, and have since gained a stellar reputation with locals and new customers alike. Due to their friendly service and traditional cuisine, you appreciate as soon as you walk in that the Wongs are passionate about Thai food. Expect vibrant, exotic flavours combined with hot spices and cool dips; expect everything that Thai food should be. You can choose single dishes from the restaurant’s exciting menu, or opt for a banquet if you want to savour a little of everything. These set menus allow you to try more than just one dish per course, and with four courses for each banquet, you’ll be able to experience everything on offer. It was a bit old-fashioned and vague/pale. The food was not bad, but also not splendid. Not spicy enough. Not the best Thai I’ve ever had, but OK if your expectations aren’t too high.

We visited the Royal Thai restaurant after purchasing an Itison voucher. We were very impressed. The service was excellent and the food was incredible. This was the best Thai food that we have had in ages. We would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be back.
