Luvians is one of two bottle shops, the first based in nearby Cupar and opened in 1980, the other here on Market Street in St Andrews just over twenty years ago. With the Fusaro brothers at the helm (the shop’s name is an acronym of theirs), Luvians’ staff is knowledgeable and passionate about locally-produced beverages in particular. It was Luvians that helped pioneer the popularity of Malt Whisky at a time when it was still relatively obscure. Now the emporium is packed to the rafters with fine wines, artisan spirits, Scottish whiskies, decadent champagnes, cigars and even fantastic ice cream. The shop itself may be relatively small, but the amount and variety of stock is huge and you’ll find yourself spending longer than you’d anticipated exploring everything on offer and making new discoveries. The shop where I bought my bottled beers while visiting St Andrews for a fortnight. Far the best beer shop in town, though it is more devoted to wine than beer. In addition to a fair selection of Scottish beers, they also provide a few bottles from England, Belgium, Germany and USA. Friendly sales staff. The Central Bar is just on the opposite side of the street.
