Saffy’s head chef Douglas Smith has been impressing food critics for almost 20 years. Having won a string of national awards after cooking for a host of VIP diners, he is now one of Scotland’s most accomplished chefs. Douglas has decided to bring his excellent cuisine to Ayr, with his own café, bar and brasserie, Saffy’s. He has worked at both Enterkine House and McCallum’s Oyster Bar in past years, and now attracts a growing customer base amongst locals and visitors to the town. Douglas uses the freshest local produce available to produce delicious Mediterranean-inspired dishes that are unique and inventive. Tuck into peppered duck breast confit, slow roasted pork belly, or a delicious smoked haddock gratin. If you’re looking for a special gift, treat your friend or loved one to a Saffy’s gift voucher. You can choose a pre-determined package such as a lunch or pre-theatre dinner, or simply buy a voucher for a specific monetary value.

I did the usual Google search when I stay somewhere for a visit. Saffy's looked appealing so I called them spoke with a helpful girl who fitted my brother and myself in at short notice. On arrival we were welcomed by a rousing hello from the front of house staff that set the tone of our meal, the menu is a pleasant selection of dishes and all reasonably priced. I believe you know you have a good chef preparing the food if you do not reach for the salt, so on that note I would highly recommend a visit or two
