Grape and Grind, on Bristol’s Gloucester Road, seems to have a singular goal: to flush the city with the finest tea, coffee and wines and spirits. And it must be said, it’s succeeding. The charming independent shop with grand ambitions, which first opened its doors in 2010, stocks a vast array of alcoholic beverages. Wines, spirits, craft beers, ciders and liqueurs are in no short supply, and the friendly, knowledgeable staff are only too happy to answer your drink-related questions. Whether you’re searching for your mum’s favourite wine ahead of a family meal, or a coveted brandy you can’t locate on the supermarket shelves, you’ll be welcomed with a bright smile. The shop specialises particularly in supplying drinks you mightn’t find anywhere else – items sourced direct from the world’s independent producers. In addition to drinks, the shop sells glassware, wine racks and cafetieres. The owner, Darren Willis, also runs a Wine Club, delivering bottles to local businesses. Named as one of the Top 10 Independent Shops in Bristol by The Guardian, Grape and Grind is well worth a visit.

Knowledgeable and helpful staff with a good independent wine and spirits selection (don't expect major wine brands). For me the highlight is the craft beer (with good local representation) and the coffee beans by Janes Gourmet.
