In the heart of the Carnoustie countryside lies Caird Park Golf Club. The pay-as-you-play course offers 18 holes and 6280 yards in total, not to mention beautiful surrounding scenery and extensive parkland to admire. The course, which was established in 1923, is one of Dundee’s three municipal golf courses. The greens can be challenging, but the easily-navigable terrain will give you a welcome break from some of the more testing stretches; particularly the course’s notoriously tricky 12th hole. As you complete the meandering back nine, you’ll cross the Gelly Burn four times. The club itself has shower facilities, a shop and club hire, so you’ll have everything you need for a full day on the green. You can also hire a buggy or trolley, and practice your swing on the driving range before plumping for the real deal. After a spot of golf, you may wish to relax in the welcome atmosphere of the club’s bar and restaurant, where you can choose a light snack or end your day with a hearty meal.
