Cafe Cognito is anything but incognito – it’s
impossible to miss the St Swithin Street eatery,
with its gleaming silver cake stands laden with
delectable wares, from freshly baked scones
to moist Victoria sponge. Even if you weren’t
planning on treating yourself, you may undergo a
change of heart after stepping inside and inhaling
the heavenly aroma of pastry and freshly ground
coffee. The cafe, which is open till 7:30pm daily,
prides itself on sourcing most of its bread and
produce locally including rolls courtesy of the
Bread Maker and iced fancies from Celebration
Cakes. There’s a real community vibe to Cafe
Cognito; it’s the sort of place where mums will pop
in after completing the school run and which city
professionals will stop by on their way home from
work. Join them and see for yourself what all the

Aberdonians love for food is all thanks to little, local
eateries like the Foodstory Cafe. With a simple yet
innovative menu, they are committed to serving
food which will leave your full tummies feeling
happy and healthy. Serving mostly plant based
food at the cafe they feel that focusing on a more
veggie diet is friendlier to the planet. They use a
lot of vegetables in their dishes and they use local
eggs, chutneys, jams and then make everything
else themselves- soups, hot pots, dips, salads,
cakes etc. Hosting a range of different events and
live music throughout the week also makes it very
appealing for an evening drink; especially during
the very generous happy hour from 5-9pm on Tue-
Thu. They have done their bit for the environment
too, building the space from recycled materials
and dishing up only local, organic, free range
food. These passionate people are still only at the
beginning of their journey, so come and visit to see
