The Battle of Bannockburn, located on the site
where Robert the Bruce raised his standard and
assembled the Scottish Army in preparation for
the Battle of Bannockburn. More than 700 years
after the bloody battle took place, the Bannockburn
experience harnesses 3D technology to bring
Scottish history to life. Stand should-to-shoulder
with medieval warriors and armoured knights while
observing the tactics of two opposing kings in a truly
immersive battle experience. Witness the sights
and sounds of medieval battle first-hand including
ancient battle strategies, weapons and armour. This
interactive simulation allows you to take command
of the knights and soldiers who fought in 1314,
pitting your wits against fellow visitors on the virtual
battlefield. The centre also contains a cafe and gift
shop, and our outdoor grounds contain a medieval
physic garden, a commemorative area including
a memorial cairn, and Pilkington Jackson’s iconic
statue of Robert the Bruce.

Visitor Centre, The Helix
Falkirk, FK2 7ZT
The Helix was dreamed up in the early noughties,
born from the idea of creating an ecopark in the
Falkirk area. 350 hectares of land were set aside,
with a series of path networks linking the Falkirk
and Grangemouth communities. Opened in 2013,
it’s a tranquil haven that attracts dog walkers,
runners, families and skaters. There’s a wealth to
see and do at the expansive development, which
incorporates The Kelpies. Recent additions to Helix
Park have included a lagoon and splash play area
and the gleaming new Plaza Cafe. Suitable for
toddlers and up, the Adventure Zone includes a
stunning timber play park that’s been imaginatively
designed. Art and community projects are regularly
hosted at The Helix, including a beekeeping society
and Meet The Species events. Buggy walks; easter
kayaking; Earth Hour. There’s always something
happening at The Helix. For lovers of the outdoors,
there’s no better place to be.
