The
Falkirk Wheel

Whether you’re interested in engineering,
mechanics, boating or just looking for a grand
day out, the Falkirk Wheel is a must-see
attraction. A rotating boat lift, built in 2002, the
Wheel connects the Forth and Clyde Canal with
the Union Canal. Visiting the site entails more
than merely seeing the Wheel though; boat trips
run daily every forty minutes or so through the
afternoon, while a visitor centre offers detailed
information and diagrams about the Wheel’s
history and mechanisms. With a Children’s
Activity Zone, cycle hire and woodland walks all
to contend with, the Falkirk Wheel offers more
fun than you’ll be able to cram into a day. Take
a break between your boat trip and canoeing to
enjoy a hearty lunch in the Falkirk Wheel Café.
Not quite got the appetite for a full meal? Settle
for tea and homemade scones instead.

Situated just outside of Comrie in the Perthshire
Hills, Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre provides
amazing activities for animal lovers. Not only
do they house usual farm residents like sheep,
pigs, Highland cows and chickens but you can
also find exotic animals like otters, meerkats,
lemurs, coatimundi and porcupines. There are
animal feedings throughout the day, a cow-milking
simulation, hatchery with baby chicks, tractors
circuit, fly fishing, mini golf and both indoor and
outdoor play barns. If it’s not raining, pony rides
are available for children over the age of 3.
If you need a break from all the action, stop in
at the Torlum Coffee Shop for hot drinks, soup,
sandwiches or specially made lunch boxes for
kids. If you’re looking to take home a reminder
of your trip to the farm, Jenny’s Place sells gifts
for all ages and occasions, as well as variety of
gardening supplies.
